TW25 forklift truck

The best relationship between load capacity and size. 24 km/h with maximum 4×4 in-wheel motor performance with minimal maintenance costs.

The TW25 forklift is a 51 hp model with 4×4 in-wheel motor technology that travels at up to 24 km/h and lifts loads of 2,500 kg to a height of six metres.

It is a vehicle with compact dimensions and a short turning radius. Thanks to this, it works with great manoeuvrability inside buildings under construction, fish markets, garages, warehouses, etc. The same goes for greenhouses and farms. Its small size means it can work in any environment and its power can handle the most demanding tasks.

The height-to-width ratio, added to the weight balance and the anti-skid block that coordinates the force of the four in-wheel motors, provides admirable stability on rough terrain. If we add to this the 345 mm of free clearance from the ground, its magnificent performance is understood when it comes to going over speed bumps, curbs, sinkholes, slopes, quagmires, frozen surfaces, etc.

The use of in-wheel motors is a distinctive feature of Agrimac forklift trucks. The TW25 does not have differential axles but rather hydraulic motors in the axle of each wheel. These motors are coordinated by an anti-slip block that distributes the power of each wheel, guaranteeing traction and improving motor-ground power transmission efficiency.

The commitment to this technology determines many aspects of the vehicle. For example, in-wheel motors weigh less than differential axles, have fewer components and are mechanically simpler. This reduces maintenance expenses and fuel consumption. In addition, the fact that the motorization weighs less and occupies much less space makes it possible to increase ground clearance and improve weight distribution. Driving is also affected. In-wheel motors allow for a quicker and more precise response to driver demands. The result is greater safety and a more pleasant experience behind the wheel.

This model is emblematic of a new generation of Agrimac forklift trucks. The TW25 Stage V forklift is the evolution of the TW25 Stage IIIA model. Nevertheless, it represents a technological leap that places it in a different generation. It was developed from scratch responding to two objectives: on the one hand, compliance with the European gas emission regulations 2016/1628 and, on the other, the achievement of a cutting-edge technological model. These two objectives are inherent in all the machine’s components and design: motorization, hydraulics, electronics, safety, aesthetics, etc.

This is why the Agrimac engineering team has chosen the Kohler KDI 1903 TCR diesel engine, which has broken into the European fifth-stage emissions market with the best power-to-expenditure ratio while amply meeting gas requirements. This engine provides a torque of 170 Nm which is 15% more than other equivalent engines on the market. It is designed to work continuously generating this high level of power with minimal fuel consumption. In terms of savings, it is also worth noting that it has a transmission belt that lasts three times longer than standard belts.

Like the rest of Agrimac’s medium-sized forklift trucks, the transmission is hydrostatic with in-wheel motors. In the case of the TW25, there are four in-wheel motors, i.e. the best possible 4×4 drive configuration. The pump is from Poclain, a firm enjoying Agrimac’s trust with whom we have worked for years with great technological and commercial success. In this model, compared to the previous one, the engineers have increased the flow of both the work pump and the displacement pump while maintaining pressure. This lends the vehicle even better performance. For this same purpose, they have also stabilized the working temperature of the oil at 50º, the ideal for this type of system. This is achieved thanks to two electric fans installed at the front of the vehicle that are independent of the radiator and dissipate heat through the opening in the truck’s counterweight. Engine cooling is greatly enhanced in this model by the intake mushroom at median height that absorbs air without impurities.

This model has four minimex installed that are accessible from the outside of the vehicle. They are hydraulic ports that, connected to a pressure gauge, serve to measure the pressure of different parts of the hydraulic system and check that they are working at the appropriate values.

A key aspect of any vehicle is the driving experience. A 4×4 forklift truck with in-wheel motors can be summed up as ease, manoeuvrability and safety. If we were talking about draught animals, as was the case in the last century, it would have to be said that this specimen is the most powerful and best trained. Manoeuvring this truck is so easy and intuitive that any novice feels like an expert behind the wheel. To further augment this sensation, both the engine and the cabin are mounted on four shock absorbers. Each one with a double anti-vibration system. Thanks to this, engine noise and vibrations are reduced while the cab is isolated from both. As a consequence, a smooth and precise driving experience is obtained.

In terms of precision, the TW25 has a slow approach system. This is built into the brake pedal for loading and unloading.

The brake priority valve that provides increased braking power with less pressure on the pedal and the negative brake can be considered part of the safety chapter. Here it is worth highlighting a few features, such as the emergency braking system. It involves an oil accumulator that allows up to ten emergency braking operations by pressing the driving brake with the engine off. The TW25 also has another braking system: it is an emergency button on the vehicle’s dashboard that, when pressed, turns off the systems and activates the negative brake.

As if that were not enough, the forklift truck is configured to stop moving and activate the brake if the pressure sensor installed in the seat indicates that the driver is not at the wheel. The vehicle control unit can also be configured to prevent movement if the driver does not have the seat belt fastened.

These kinds of safety devices are controlled through the forklift’s interface. It consists of a screen under the steering wheel and buttons on the control pad.

The screen shows the information it receives from the engine control unit, the pump control unit and other sensors distributed throughout the vehicle. Here you can see data on engine revolutions, the fuel tank, temperature, working hours, particulate filter saturation, etc. All the possible interactions and settings that can be carried out through this interface are described in the user manual.

The most evident attractions come here at the end. With the TW25, Agrimac is launching a more modern aesthetic. A design characterized by rounded lines and an aerodynamic appearance where the driver is given more importance. The cabin is larger, better insulated and has a better view of both the load and the surroundings. In turn, the seat adapts to all driver sizes, as does the steering wheel. It also has excellent lighting with large running and working lights befitting an electronically well-endowed vehicle. In short, the aesthetics encompass a whole series of features to make this vehicle the operator’s office. A comfortable work station, so that long working hours seem to go by more quickly.
